Frocktails in Australia and New Zealand
Frocktails is an an event that brings together sewing enthusiasts to share their creations, and celebrate their love for making unique clothing. The atmosphere is one that celebrates local makers, fabric stores and haberdashery businesses. The events are run by groups of volunteers and is held annually in many cities this is THE cocktail party for people who enjoy making and sewing their own garments.
It is the chance to make and wear your finest outfit, and come along to our cocktail party to meet others who have done the same! Frocktails is for anyone who loves making and doesn’t really need an excuse to create a fancy outfit (but it’s a great one!). It’s a perfect event for those who would like to meet new people with similar interests.

Blue Mountain Frocktails
The first Blue Mountain Frocktails was hosted in 2023 at Carrington Hotel in Katoomba and has gone onto host other fabulous events.
The event is organised by @l.oopylou @minervasbower and @honeyandrosedesigns.

Newcastle Frocktails
It is exciting to see the first Newcastle Frocktails hosted in early 2024 at Queens Wharf Hotel! The evening saw 80 makes come to together to celebrate their love of sewing and dressmaking.
The date for the 2026 event has been announced with tickets on sale now.

Christchurch Frocktails
Christchurch celebrated its second Frocktail event on 22 June 2024 welcome 50 makers to Ilam Homestead. The event is coordinated by Shona Senior and Elizabeth Browne.

Darwin Frocktails
Darwin hosted its first Frocktail event in 2023 with a celebration of local makers. The event included a series of prizes for beginners (under two years experience) and experienced sewists (over two years) with categories for garments made from Indigenous fabric, crafted garments and upcycled garments.

Wellington Frocktails
The exclusive Wellington Frocktails hosts an opportunity for New Zealand makers to come together to celebrate their makes. The event is independently run by @lh_made and @rosiesewsbras

Founded in 2015 the Perth Frocktails is currently supported by the local arm of the Australian Sewing Guild brining together dressmakers in Western Australia.

Auckland Frocktails
The Auckland Frocktails is invites its guest to dress in something that makes you feel fabulous! This event is hosted by Mandy Chamberlin of Embroidery Machines.
Melbourne Frocktails
The inaugural Frocktails was held at Longrain Melbourne in 2013 and was coordinated by @allthewhimsicalthings with a mission to “Hold the night of cocktails & frocks”. She was joined by co-hosts @liblib and @renay_alice in 2015-2017. The event lives on with Shelley and Lisa taking the lead in 2018.
