Pattern Spotlight: 1950s Vintage
What does big circle skirts with petticoats, sheath dresses and swing coats remind you of? The 1950s of course! These are just a few of the fabulous styles we have seen in the 50’s and we’re so glad they are still around. We’ve gathered some beautiful patterns that were designed back then, but re-released in the past few years. Which 1950’s style do you love (and miss) the most?

A dress with a full gathered skirt is the ultimate 1950’s dress! This pattern has a wide lapel collar and it can be made with three quarter sleeves, short sleeves or sleeveless. And of course, add the cummerbund for extra fabulousness!

Who doesn’t need a vintage bathing dress and matching beach coat?! The bathing dress is lined and it features elastic around the leg openings. The coat has grown on sleeves with a self belt and the option to add a contrast lining. We love this look!

This wrap dress features the most beautiful details. The pattern includes two wonderful versions: a midi dress with three tie closures on the back of the skirt and a separate belt, and a mini dress with large patch pockets with an attached wrapped belt that ties in the front.

Simplicity 8645 includes 4 gorgeous halter and sun tops! The three halter tops feature a seam line on your midriff with darts in the back to give it shape. View D is fully lined and features a square neckline. All designs close with buttons on the back.

Make this beautiful pullover dress and you’ll feel like you’re living in the 1950s! This design features a collar, optional shoulder pads, a fitted bodice, cute pockets with ties, a side zipper and self belt.

This gathering of 1950’s patterns wouldn’t be complete without a sheath dress! The dress falls below-knee, is fitted with front and back darts and has a side zipper fastening. This pattern also includes a loose-fitting coat and jacket with grown-on sleeves, turn-back cuffs and patch pockets with an interesting button feature.

This gorgeous coat will make your whole 1950’s outfit complete! It features a shawl collar and you get to choose between 2 different lengths and three-quarter length or full length raglan sleeves with turn back cuffs.
