Pattern Spotlight: Knit Dresses

Sewing with knitted (stretchy) fabrics is something that still scares some sewists, but we are here to tell you that there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. You just want to be extra careful when you are cutting your pattern pieces – you don’t want to stretch your fabric out of shape. We also recommend using a ballpoint or stretch needle in your sewing machine and use a zigzag stitch when you stitch your seams and hems. You don’t even need an overlocker, you can just use your normal machine!

Knitted garments are extremely comfortable to wear and a breeze to fit. We’ve put together a list of some beautiful dress patterns that are especially designed for knitted fabrics. Some are perfect for beginners, and some are for the more experienced sewists, so there is definitely something for everyone. Enjoy browsing and happy sewing!
