How to Sew: Lapped Seam
Watch our helpful video guide: How to sew a lapped seam. One of our Learn To Sew video guides.
This video shows how to sew a lapped seam. This seam adds a decorative element to your garments and is perfect for fabrics that don’t fray – like leather and fleece.
A lapped seam is the best when going for a clean flat finish and is created by placing one piece of fabric on top of another to create an overlap at the seam allowance. A straight stitch is then placed at ¼ inch from the edge of the fold.
