This video shows how to sew a doublestitch. A doublestitch is placed ¼ inch away from the seam line, inside the seam allowance. You can use a straight stitch or a zigzag stitch. Once complete, use scissors to trim off the extra fabric close to the double stitch.

If you’re overlocking or serging your seam, this can replace the need to doublestitch the seam as the overlocking stitches provide the extra support.
